Tariffs Ocean and Air Freight - Q4, 2019

We are pleased to inform our customers at the start of every new quarter about the developments in the Sea and Air freight rates within our service package.

Ocean Freight

  • Import Asia

The rates have again decreased sharply in recent months. As we have been doing this for a number of years, the fluctuations are again absorbed by the variable "Peak Season" surcharges (PSS). It is expected that rates will decrease even further and may stabilize from December 2019.

  • North America

The export rates on the North America trade have increased again. Most shipping companies have raised rates between USD 75.00 and USD 150.00 per TEU, while some Premium carriers such as Hapag Lloyd are even higher.

Air freight

  • Import Asia

Tariffs on imports from Asia have decreased considerably lately. However, we are currently seeing a revival caused by higher demand, for example new Apple and HP products, leading to higher rates in the market. Another decrease is expected from mid-October. From December to Chinese New Year, the rates will show an upward trend again. We have adjusted our rates accordingly. 

  • North America

The rates for flights to and from North America do not seem to change at all at the moment.

Surcharges

The surcharges for FSC, SSC, CAF, BAF and LSF are charged to you as always according to expenses. Fuel-related surcharges in particular are currently rising, due to higher oil prices on the world market.
