Disruptions in one of the largest ports in the world due to corona case

A container terminal in the Chinese port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, one of the largest ports in the world, currently does not handle inport and export container services. According to a statement from the port just south of Shanghai, it is a system malfunction. The terminal staff are reportedly in quarantine after a positive corona test from an employee.

The city council of Ningbo-Zhoushan reports in a statement that a terminal employee has tested positive for the corona virus. All close contacts of the man have since been identified and are in quarantine. Ningbo-Zhoushan has several container terminals.

The situation in the port is extremely inconvenient. There have been many problems in the supply chains lately. There are container shortages worldwide due to the corona crisis and the demand for raw materials is picking up again worldwide.

The days-long disruption of the Suez Canal in the spring also contributed to the chain problems, as did previous corona measures in Chinese ports near the industrial city of Shenzhen.
